A victim impact statement is a written or oral statement made as part of the legal process. It allows a victim the opportunity to describe how they have been impacted by the crime. Your prosecutor will present this statement to the court before the judge. You can download a copy of a statement template below in English, French or Bislama.
You can type words directly into the template or print it out and write it by hand. You can ask somebody to help you write your victim impact statement, such as the police, the Vanuatu Women's Center or a supportive friend or relative.
